Plant a seed, see what grows!

Susan Spivack is not a NY Times best-selling author or a Newberry Medal winner or even a SCBWI Golden Kite recipient (yet!). Her work has received praise from her mother, her neighbor two doors down and her grand dogs, Benny, Lexi and Noodle. It has been featured on the covers of her bed, throughout her kitchen counters, and currently on the back seat of her car.

Yup, this is a problem and therefore she is seeking representation.

Despite the lack of accolades, Susan is a children’s book writer with stories that speak to the hearts of children, creating characters who use their creativity, humor and positive outlook to jump life’s hurdles. She seeks to empower her readers with these traits, the superpowers, that helped her succeed.

Ms. Spivack is a retired Professor and Director of the Graphic Design and Illustration Program at Kingsborough Community College (City University of New York).

She was also the owner and Creative Director of Susan Spivack Graphic Design, where she has won numerous awards for her work including multiple Art Directors Club Awards, Andy Award, Creativity Award, and a Graphis International Award, to name a few.

Susan regularly participates in an amazing critique group, is an active member of SCBWI, and has attended numerous writing classes including those at Boyds Mills Press, The Writing Barn, and Gotham Writers in NYC.

When she is not poking fun at herself, in addition to growing stories, Susan also tends her gardens, cultivates art, fosters friendships, and nurtures her adult children, their spouses and offspring, both human and canine. Originally from Brooklyn, she now splits her time between the eclectic West Village in NYC and the serene Hudson Valley.
